Planning your visit
Planning a trip to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek takes just a little foresight. The museum stays beautifully uncrowded on weekdays and outside of school holidays. Located close to the central train station, the Glyptotek is easy to reach by bus, foot, or bike. Tickets grant access to both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, while special events might carry an extra fee. Families with children and visitors needing accessible entry should be aware some older galleries include stairs, but staff are always happy to help with lifts or directions.
- Best time to visit: Late morning on weekdays, or late afternoon for quieter galleries. Spring and autumn offer the best balance of light and fewer visitors.
- How to get there: The Glyptotek sits a few blocks from Copenhagen’s main train station. Buses 2A, 5C, and 250S stop nearby. Biking is easy, with racks outside the museum.
- Accessibility: Strollers and wheelchairs can access most exhibits. Some older wings have steps—ask staff for assistance or to use lifts.
- Average visit duration: Two to three hours allow time for key galleries, gardens, and a coffee break.
